Our Story
My Family Vet is a friendly, architecturally designed, modern clinic located in Ellendale Village, Upper Kedron, Queensland. We are a family owned & managed small-animal practice that truly believes pets are an intrinsic part of the family. All of us value the special bond that is created when a dog or cat is welcomed into the family – we treat pets like family!
Our team has worked together for many years in other small animal practices. During that time, we developed an amazingly positive culture with great respect and admiration for each other. We all really enjoy what we do and working together to do it! As such, a few years ago we hatched the idea of opening our own practice to continue to do what we love, without corporate constraints. After much discussion and planning, My Family Vet was born – family owned for your family pet! While the planning and building of the clinic was taking place, each of us ventured off on a slightly different path, gaining more knowledge, skills, and experience. We are so excited about reuniting and working together again! What we wanted to build was a warm and welcoming vet clinic with a personal touch that provided exceptional health care with a stable, reliable, friendly team.
Our veterinarians are highly experienced with complimentary special interests across the broad range of services that they offer. They are very like-minded in their approach and will offer a compassionate, excellent standard of care for preventative health, behavioural, medical, and surgical cases. They also believe that continuity of care is crucial in providing the best possible health for your pet. Our veterinary nursing team are passionate about providing quality support for your cat, dog and entire family. They are friendly and approachable and will endeavour to make you feel welcome and as comfortable as possible. We all believe in effective communication with all our pet families and will help you in any way needed.

Please note: we specialise in treating dogs and cats, and don’t have the expertise, equipment, or medication required to treat other types of pets such as rodents, birds or reptiles. We suggest taking these family members to a specialist clinic that suits their needs. Thanks for your understanding.

Together with my partners, Charlotte and Gareth, I started My Family Vet – Upper Kedron to build a friendly practice that treats pets as an intricate part of the family, providing excellent care to our precious pets and a comforting experience to their families. This is an accomplishment of which I am very excited to be a part of.
My entire life has been surrounded by animals, firstly watching my father who is also a vet in his own practice, then later growing up on a cattle station and always having a multitude of pets. Animals have always been a huge part of my life and over the years I also recognized how important animals can be to other people. I became a vet simply because I wanted to help animals and their people.
I began my career in mixed practice in Victoria. From there I travelled to the U.K. and worked in a variety of practices. Then I moved to U.S.A. and worked in a busy small animal practice. At that point I decided that my passion was in looking after our precious pets. Since moving back to Australia, I have worked in numerous small animal practices and more recently in a busy emergency centre. My major interests include internal medicine, diagnostics especially clinical pathology and imaging (radiography and ultrasonography), soft tissue surgery and preventative health.
What I truly love about working in the veterinary world is seeing the special human-animal bond a family pet has with their family and how our pets bring much love and comfort to our lives. I believe it is vital to strive to keep our pets as happy and healthy for as long as possible.
When not in the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family – my partner, my three daughters, and Luna an affectionate kitty.

Along with Louise and Gareth, I am a partner of My Family Vet – Upper Kedron. We started this practice because we all wanted to offer a warm and welcoming family-owned veterinary practice to provide exceptional-quality health care to our beloved family pets and a wonderful service to their families. This is a long-awaited dream of ours and something we are incredibly proud of.
Animals have always been a part of my family growing up and I believe it is a real privilege of any household to have pets. Treating sick and injured patients is a very important part of being a vet and one of the main reasons I became interested in veterinary science. I love to see animals thrive and that is the most rewarding aspect of my job.
I have been in practice as a Veterinary Surgeon for over fifteen years. I started out in mixed practice across the ditch prior to travelling to the UK to work in both small animal and emergency clinics. I came to Australia roughly ten years ago and have worked in several clinics across the country. Several years ago, I obtained a post graduate medicine certificate and more recently became PennHIP accredited (enabling assessment of hip health more accurately). My main interests are joint disease and prevention, dentistry, basic orthopaedic procedures and soft tissue surgery including correction of BOAS (brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome).
As my veterinary career has progressed, I have seen how pets can bring so much joy and happiness to people’s lives. It is important to me that in our practice we treat pets as valued members of the family and keep them as comfortable and happy as we can.
My own family includes my husband, two young energetic boys, my cat Lenny and Jack my super enthusiastic ball chasing, hole digging, water loving Groodle.

I’m very excited to be joining the team at My Family Vet – Upper Kedron. I have previously worked with Charlotte, Zie and Gemma elsewhere in the industry, and I’m really glad to be working with Gareth and Louise as well. Everyone who works at My Family Vet is really dedicated to excellent clinical standards, patient care and communication.
I spent the first 5 years of my veterinary career working in a variety of small animal general practices across south-east Queensland. I moved to Mackay after getting engaged where I worked in a general practice and emergency clinic. My now-husband and I have recently moved back to Brisbane after 2 years away, and I’m excited to be reconnecting with the community here.
My special interests in veterinary medicine include feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, senior pet care, and emergency and critical care. My favourite part of being a vet is helping pets to be as happy, healthy and comfortable as they can be!
I have 2 lovely cats at home called Petal and Mabel. Petal was found as a kitten living underneath someone’s house and was brought into one of my previous clinics as a stray. Mabel was also found on the street with her mother and 2 siblings as a kitten and was adopted by my husband. We have a blended family, but luckily our girls get on quite well!

I started my career 20 years ago, in mixed (large and small animal) practice for the first ten years, then small animal general practice back in Brisbane after I had my kids. I also work in emergency and critical care up at BVECCS some nights and weekends, and I have spent several years in working in shelter medicine at RSPCA and AWL. I really wanted to work a little closer to home, and not all of the crazy hours, but I knew I wanted to be with a great team. And I have found them. I met Charlotte at an eye surgery course in January 2025, we got along well and I started doing some locum shifts to help out, until we decided I should stay!
I love the variety of veterinary practice, helping families care for their pets from before a new pet arrives in the household until end of life care. Animal behaviour fascinates me, and I enjoy working through chronic disease processes like skin allergies and gut upset.
I also have a Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Acupuncture, and as part of that will use Chinese herbal formulae. I have been practicing acupuncture since 2012 and find it to be a valuable addition to treatment for many conditions.

For some time, I have been working with vets, Louise and Charlotte to start up My Family Vet – Upper Kedron. We wanted to have a high-quality veterinary practice that we could call our own. It has been quite the journey and I am very proud of what we have built, and we are all so excited to work together in a happy, friendly practice.
Having been in the Veterinary industry since 2005, I have gained experience in a wide range of places. I have worked at the Animal Welfare League, helping with the animal rescue and adoptions services. For many years I worked in a Specialist Hospital, progressing to Head Nurse. I then worked in a busy General Practice as the Practice Manager. More recently, I have spent my time as an emergency nurse in a high-paced Emergency Centre.
However, my heart truly belongs in general practice, looking after the local community with gold standard pet care and a strong focus on the whole family. I believe it’s not just about the pet but also the amazing humans that open their hearts and homes to these precious little critters.
My own family includes Piper – our sweet doggy and two lovely cats – a big ginger named Jordy, a cute shy Sphinx named Wednesday, along with their humans – my wife and our three children.

I’m thrilled to rejoin my former colleagues at My Family Vet – Upper Kedron. After many years working together at another practice, we each went our separate ways for a while, but now we’re excited to be back working as a team under the same roof.
My passion for caring for animals began at a young age, and I started my career as a teenager working in a local pet store. I then transitioned to vet nursing, earning my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and worked my way up to Head Vet Nurse in a busy small animal practice. I’ve also gained experience working with an after-hours mobile vet service.
I have a deep love for all aspects of general practice, but my particular focus is on making pets feel comfortable and cared for while ensuring their families feel welcome. I also enjoy the organizational side of the clinic, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
At home, I share my life with my energetic cat, Bow, who likes to think he’s more of a dog than a cat!

I am one of the friendly faces you will see on reception here at My Family Vet. I help with bookings, answering calls and making sure both you and your pets feel welcome and looked after from the moment you arrive.
Before I joined this amazing team, I worked as a laser therapist in the beauty industry, where client care was at the heart of everything I did. I have always loved working with people and now I am lucky to combine that with my passion and love for animals.
Outside of work I enjoy keeping active and spending time with my partner and my 2 Ragdoll cats Mia and Myles.

I’m thrilled to be a part of the wonderful team at My Family Vet – Upper Kedron. Having worked with Dr Charlotte, Zie and Gareth before, I knew I’d be joining an excellent team committed to providing an exceptional standard of care to patients and clients.
Like most kids growing up, I loved anything to do with animals. Whether it be going to the zoo, learning about animals, or simply saving injured wildlife on the farm. I made the decision to become a vet nurse because I was passionate about caring for animals and I loved the fast pace and varied role the job brings.
I started my career as a kennel hand at a general practice in Ashgrove, gradually working my way up to Head Vet Nurse. During this time, I also completed my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Eager to broaden my knowledge, I transitioned to a specialist referral centre in north Brisbane, where I initially worked as a rotating nursing before joining the Internal Medicine Department. I then took a beak to start my family and later returned to work part-time at a mobile pet service as a clinic nurse.
I am passionate about all aspects of veterinary nursing and truly can’t imagine doing anything else. My special interests include anaesthesia and pain management. Above all, my goal is to treat every pet as if they were my own, while ensuring their human companions feel informed and supported.
My family includes my husband, our two children, and we’re looking forward to adding a new furry family member soon.
