At My Family Vet, we feel lucky to call Upper Kedron home. Nestled in the leafy surrounds of Ellendale Village, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to wide open spaces, welcoming local cafés and places that truly embrace pets as part of the family.
With school holidays just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to explore everything our local area has to offer — whether you’re heading out with the kids, catching up with friends, or just looking for a great coffee after the morning walk.

🐶 Off-Leash Areas Worth a Visit
Upper Kedron Dog Park
Located within the Upper Kedron Recreation Reserve, this space offers open grassy areas perfect for dogs to run and play. There is a small and large dog space. It’s a great place to socialise if your dog enjoys making new friends.
Ferny Grove Dog Park
Conveniently located off Samford Road, this fully fenced dog park offers agility equipment, shade, and seating for owners. With plenty of space to sniff and explore for both little and big dogs, it’s perfect for dogs who enjoy a bit of off-leash freedom.
Keperra Dog Park
Located on Duggan St, Keperra, is conveniently located near the train line this gem is a spot for dogs to run free. With two enclosed area, it is a welcoming spot for dogs of all sizes. It’s a local hub for dog lovers and a great option for daily exercise.
🌳 Scenic Walks to Explore
Samford Rail Trail
Starting at Ferny Grove and extending towards Samford, this converted rail line is a flat, well-maintained trail that’s ideal for leisurely walks or bike rides with your dog. There are also many bush-tracks off the main path to explore. Keep your pup on a leash and enjoy the quiet bush surroundings.
Ironbark Gully
A local treasure with shaded walking tracks through native bushland. There is also a large, grassed picnic area for family fun. It’s an on-leash area, making it safe for wildlife while still being a great place for a calm, scenic, nature-filled walk.
Bellbird Grove
Set in a restored 1930s weatherboard cottage, Nana & Da’s is beloved for its neighbourhood charm, fresh market produce, and family-friendly atmosphere. Dogs are welcome in the shaded front seating area, complete with water bowls and the café’s quirky “kangaroo open sign.”
Bellbird Grove
Just a short drive from Upper Kedron, Bellbird Grove offers stunning bushwalking trails, picnic areas, and even creek access for a splash on warmer days. Dogs are welcome on leash—don’t forget to bring water and keep an eye out for wildlife.

Café 63 (Upper Kedron)
This popular café chain has a strong reputation for being pet-friendly, and the Upper Kedron location is no exception. With outdoor seating and a welcoming vibe, it’s a great place to relax with your dog by your side. Bonus: They often have dog-friendly menu options or treats!
Ferny’s Café (Ferny Grove)
A local favourite with a lovely outdoor dining area where pets are welcome. Located near Ferny Grove station, it’s a great place to grab a coffee before or after a walk along the nearby rail trail.
Pepper & Salt Café (Keperra)
Tucked into the Great Western Super Centre, Pepper & Salt offers tasty breakfasts, good coffee, and a casual outdoor seating area that’s perfect for pups. Staff are friendly, and there’s usually a water bowl out front.
